Alba Potts

A little about us..............

My name is Alba Potts I am 13years old, Turning 14 in February next year.
I have been riding for 5 years now. I enjoy a few disciplines.  I Have been having lessons at Bensville Riding school for 5 years and am part of the show team. I am predominantly a show rider and have been showing for about 3 years
I have competed in m:
- SHC  & EA HOTY where I have placed top 10.
- several Royal shows including Canberra and Sydney.
Achievements
Canberra Royal 2023
- 5th in my rider class 13-15 years
- 5th in Child’s Hack.
- Sydney Royal 2022 5th Pony Club rider 9 to under 13 years.
- overall Age Champion 12 years Matcham
Valley Pony Club 2022.
- Age Champion 12 years  Zone 24 dressage Championships
- SHC Youth Show equal 2nd rider 12 under 15 years. 3rd on count back so close to qualifying for Nationals.
-Supreme Champion rider at Gosford Ag Show 2023.
-Supreme Horse at Dungog Ag show December 2022.

Not 1st or even 2nds but it’s not always about the win but the experience. Every Qualifier, Ag shows, dressage days or pony club events I learn more and more about sportsmanship, horsemanship and myself.

My greatest achievement thus far was winning Supreme horse of the show at Dungog Ag show in November last year. This was a huge achievement being my first show on my Mums small hack (who I have now stolen) and my first ever Supreme ribbon. While I enjoy the competition, atmosphere and challenge at shows  I really love spending time and having fun with my horsey best friends at my local Pony Club Matcham Valley.

This is where I can be myself, still learn new disciplines and have fun with my friends. I have been lucky enough to win age Champion or Reserve at most of the events and Supreme Hunter horse at the Showrider event on my unicorn pony Shadow. I have also been accepted and competing in the Pony Club State Showrider event in a few weeks time.

I own 3 horses. As mentioned above my Unicorn horse Tenayen Rising Star- Shadow. Shadow has taught me so much and really showed me what a pleasure owning and caring for a horse can be. I am responsible for the care of my horses. I do stables every morning before school, rug, unrug, feed and groom. It’s a lot of work but all worth it.

I am so lucky to have such a Perfectly educated, willing and kind horse I can ride him with no halter and bare back up from the back paddock,  I do everything on him, however he has now retired from showing as he turns 22 in December. He is my main Pony Club horse as he is the perfect all rounder. Loves to sport and can flying change at every bending pole. For an old boy he can really get up and go! We love to jump, he’s a true pleasure horse, he is great bare back and still can beat most horses in the hunter ring. I’m hoping to win top point scorer at my club and possibly zone this year.

I also own Allira Park Sinatra- Tommy. He is actually my mums, but as mentioned above I have stolen him as my show horse. He is a beautiful boy and is teaching challenges me to be a better and stronger rider.

Last but not least is my little Lindy Lou. A miniature pony my family rescued this year. She is the cutest, sweetest fluffiest little thing. She Whinnies every time we walk out of the house. Loves scratches and gives kisses in return. I spend alot of time playing with Lindy and giving her lots of attention as she came from a herd and was the outcast. She is loving all the attention. I adore her.

I enjoy spending time with my horses caring for them as well as riding. I help mum with all the prepping and having a white pony we are both obsessed with making him sparkle getting his tail bright white and giving him a bit of bling with white socks and blackening his legs.
